Rehabilitated Women, Strengthened Society

On April 8th, in celebration of Mozambican Women’s Day, I had the honor of representing the Association for Supporting Women in Local Entrepreneurship on a very special visit to the Special Penitentiary Establishment for Women in Maputo.

The visit was led by Her Excellency Gueta Chapo, First Lady of the Republic of Mozambique, who brought words of affection, hope and dignity to the women there. A gesture that was much more than symbolic — it was deeply human.

This moment was only possible thanks to the tireless work of the Preta Negra Social Assistance Secretariat, represented by the dear Marlene, a woman of action, heart and courage, who has dedicated her energy to causes that really make a difference.

Listening, looking into each other’s eyes, feeling the emotion in each gesture… it was a powerful reminder that all women, regardless of their condition, deserve to be seen, valued and accompanied in their process of starting over.

It was a privilege to be present. And more than that — it was a call to continue working with even more purpose for a society where no one is left behind.
